Unplug and recharge

Vacations are meant to let you rest and recharge. The company hopes that you’ll fully disconnect from work. However, you also cannot abdicate your responsibilities. Therefore, before leaving, work with your team and your manager to create a temporary coverage plan, delegating your responsibilities to colleagues while you’re gone.

Vacation leave approval and balances

• Vacations are subject to approval by the company (typically your manager), though it’s extremely rare that requests would ever be rejected.
• It’s OK to let your balance go negative, though within reason. Anything more than -10 is very unusual.
• With the start of each calendar year, each of us can “roll forward” up to 10 vacation days into the new year. Unused vacation days above that balance will expire.
